Elkhorn Area High School Gate and Archway Fabrication

RC Portable Welding & Fabrication recently had the opportunity to work with Elkhorn Area High School to create a custom set of gates and an archway for their football field. The school emailed us seeking a way to dedicate this entrance to two retired coaches who had made a significant impact on the community. Although this project was not a referral, the school chose to work with us due to a previous positive experience with our services.

Initial Consultation and Project Planning

When Elkhorn Area High School contacted us, they had a clear vision in mind. They wanted a durable, visually appealing set of gates and an archway that would be a lasting tribute to the coaches. 

We discussed their needs and assured them we could fabricate a high-quality gate system that included posts and an archway, all powder-coated in the school’s colors. This project also held sentimental value for us, as one of the coaches being honored was a former math teacher and coach of Bob, our business owner.

Fabrication and Installation Process

The project began with an on-site meeting to finalize the design and assess the installation area. The following day, we returned to cut out the blacktop and prepare the site for the footings. After augering the holes, we poured the concrete footings to provide a solid foundation for the structure.

Back at our shop, we began the metal fabrication process. We crafted the gates and archway using our welder, CNC roller, CNC plasma, punch press, hydraulic shear, hydraulic press brake, and bandsaw. We also CNC cut the school’s logo and the letters for the archway, ensuring that every detail was precise and aligned with the school’s vision. Once all the components were fabricated, they were powder-coated in the school’s colors to ensure a long-lasting and vibrant finish.

After completing the fabrication and coating process, we transported the finished gates, posts, and archway to the site. The installation was completed efficiently, and the final product exceeded the school’s expectations.

Sentimental Value and Community Impact

This project was particularly meaningful to us because of its connection to a valued member of our community. The dedication of the gates and archway to the two retired coaches was not just a functional addition to the school’s facilities but also a heartfelt tribute. The school and the school board were extremely pleased with the outcome, noting the attention to detail and the quality of the craftsmanship.

Completing this project in just fourteen days from start to finish was a testament to our commitment to delivering exceptional results within tight timelines. The Elkhorn Area High School now has a beautiful and durable entrance that will serve as a lasting tribute to their beloved coaches.
