Bob Swatek first started welding 35 years ago in his high school shop class. He fell in love with welding and started using his skills to build custom race car frames and axles. When the cars were done, of course he had to test drive them himself to make sure everything was just right.
In 1989, Bob decided he wanted to do something for himself and become his own boss so he started R.C. Portable Welding and Fabrication. You may be wondering how he came up with the name “RC Welding,” and you wouldn’t be alone. Turns out, at that time it was common for welding companies to come up with a name using their initials. Well, Bob Swatek had to get a little creative and use his formal first name and middle name initials, for obvious reasons!
After Bob came up with a name for his company, he got right to work. Some of his first, major jobs include custom fabricating bunk beds for the county correctional system, producing over 13,500 ft of staircase and balcony railing for a local water park, and of course, continuing his work with race cars. Over the years, RC Welding has been a part of many unique and industry-leading projects such as, working on two different Frank Lloyd Wright properties, remodeling for Milwaukee’s Historical Third Ward store fronts, and renovating of Pabst Brewery in Milwaukee and Black Point Estate in Lake Geneva.
Like we said before, we challenge you to find a job that Bob has not done before!
