Custom Built Trailer in Delavan, WI

A customer emailed R.C. Portable Welding & Fabrication seeking information about a custom trailer build. The trailer needed to be compatible with his UTV (utility terrain vehicle/utility task vehicle). They inquired about size capabilities, ramp options, and trailer capacity. We explained to this customer that we custom fabricate trailers, so we are able to accommodate specifications pertaining to deck size, weight capacity, lighting, ramp configurations, and more.  

What R.C. Did For This Project

Once we finalized initial discussions with the customer and felt we had a good understanding of their goals for the project, we undertook several steps to deliver the perfect trailer. These steps followed the usual chain of production for such a project. 

First, we conducted weight calculations for axle requirements. We then designed and drew up dimensions based on the customer’s specified height, width, and length requirements.  

Then, we fabricated the trailer’s frame, the main production portion of the project. This fabrication was conducted at our fabrication shop using a hydraulic shear, a hydraulic press brake, and a plate roller. Once the trailer was constructed, we applied primer paint and proceeded to paint the frame. 

Finally, we completed installations of convenient components. These components included lighting, breaks, the trailer jack, and decking. As part of the installation process, we thoroughly tested each of these elements. 

Speedy Turnaround

From start to finish, this trailer build took 2 days. This timeframe is typical for similar projects that R.C. has undertaken. Additionally, we started the project less than a week after our initial email contact from the customer. Our discussions, planning, drawings, and customer approval-to-complete were all completed prior to commencing the 2-day build. 

Though fast turnarounds are important to us, they never take precedence over quality. The consistency of our work was evident in the outcomes of this project. The customer was very satisfied with the custom trailer we built him and indicated that got exactly what he was hoping for.
